WEB HOSTING

You have a website either personal or commercial and want to make it available on the internet. How do you host it? One option could be hosting at home by converting an old computer into your web server. This can work pretty fine especially when it comes to hosting a personal website but for commercial websites, a dedicated web hosting company would be best. Before choosing a company , try and find out something about their products and services. Price is a major factor to look at but it should not   be over emphasized at the expense of quality service.  Let us now take a look at some of the things you may want to check out before choosing a web hosting service provider.

The amount of storage space being offered and its cost should be a matter of concern. It has become common these days for web hosting service providers to lure clients by offering them huge storage spaces on their web servers. What many people fail to understand is that most websites’ storage requirements can be satisfied by companies that offer smaller storage space at a cheaper price. Some companies may offer you between 400MB and 1GB of storage. But,is that amount of space really necessary? The amount of storage space you require will solely depend on the contents of your website. Hosting plain text only requires a very small amount of space. Image files consume slightly larger disk space depending on their formats and finally music, videos and application software hosted on a server will occupy a considerably huge volume of disk space .Many websites on the internet, based on their contents, require less than 50MB of storage space and web hosts give these large storage space relying on the fact that most websites do not fully utilize them. So before choosing a web host try and find out the amount of storage space that will satisfy your needs.

The web hosting uptime,is another factor that should determine the web hosting company you choose. A company with a longer web hosting uptime is usually better. The uptime of a web server is very crucial to your business and  its reputation. if a customer wanted to access services through your website and finds that the server is down, you may probably end up losing that client to a competitor.

Sufficient bandwidth is also an important aspect to the prosperity of your website. The size of your bandwidth should be large enough to allow for efficient data flow to and from your website. Remember,a larger bandwidth will allow more people to be able to access your web pages much faster and this will  help improve on your site’s ratings.
